High School Graduate and College Student

 

Scholarships are awarded at the annual Holy Trinity Name Day Banquet. Recipients are expected to be present.

Required application documents must be submitted electronically no later than April 30th. Items listed can be uploaded at end of application or sent to scholarships@htgoc.net. You may also download application and email it directly.

  • Completed application (fill out below or download to complete manually)
  • 50-100 word essay: Scholarship recipients may be asked to read essay at luncheon when Scholarship is awarded or other event.
    • Holy Trinity and Koraes Scholarships "My goals and philosophy of life."
  • Two (2) letters of recommendation addressing scholastic achievement, character and leadership abilities. At least one letter from a teacher, counselor or principal or other school personnel. To be sent by the school or persons making recommendations to scholarships@htgoc.net
  • Picture of applicant (picture will not be returned). Picture can be embedded in resume. 
  • Current resume including the items below (church activities should be included on the resume in the applicable area):
    • Education to date (including high school)
      • Accumulative GPA
      • If in college, year in college and expected graduation date
      • Major or intended major
    • Scholastic Achievement/Honors
    • Employment Experience
    • Athletic and/or Extracurricular Activities
    • Leadership Activities
    • Volunteer/Community Service Experience

Student Category:

High School Graduate:

  • Incoming freshman entering an accredited college or university in on a full-time basis for a minimum period of two (2)years:
    • Most recent official transcript - to be sent by the school to scholarships@htgoc.net
    • Results of SAT and/or ACT
    • Letter of acceptance from an accredited university, college or technical school

College Student:

  • Currently attending an accredited university, college or technical school.
  • Most recent official transcript - to be sent by the school to scholarships@htgoc.net

Guidelines:

  1. A single application is used for the Holy Trinity, Koraes and named parish Scholarships.
  2. The applicant's family must be an active member of Holy Trinity Greek Orthodox Church and in good standing.
    • Eligibility of the applicant, shall be a natural or adopted child, or ward, of a parishioner in good standing of Holy Trinity Greek Orthodox Church, Canton, Ohio, for a minimum period of three (3) years.
  3. 3. To be eligible for the Koraes scholarship(s) the applicant's Mother must be a Koraes member for a minimum of two (2) years.
  4. The applicant must have a cumulative grade point average of 2.8 or higher. If no applicants meet the criteria concerning the grade point average, no scholarship(s) will be awarded that year.
  5. The scholarships are awarded based on scholastic ability, character, financial need and the determination of the applicant to complete his/her higher education.
  6. The same applicant is not permitted to receive the same scholarship more than two times.
  7. Incomplete applications will not be considered by the Scholarship Committee.
  8. Final decisions for awarding scholarships are made by the Scholarship Committee.
  9. Additional named Scholarships may be available depending on parishioner donations.
  10. Qualified applicants will be considered for all scholarships available that they have indicated they are applying for.
